COLLECT THE SEA

Dockside ("the app", "we", "us") is a cruise ship and port collecting app for iOS. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the app:

• Account data — If you sign in, we store your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication.
• Collection data — Ships sailed, ports visited, voyage dates, and notes you enter. This is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to Firebase Firestore if you are signed in.
• Purchase data — Subscription status for Full Sail is managed by RevenueCat. We do not store payment card information.
• Scan usage — A count of how many AI scans you have used is stored locally on your device.
• Advertising identifier — With your permission (iOS ATT prompt), your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used by Google AdMob to serve relevant ads. Free users only.
• Photos — When you use the scan features, photos you select are sent to the Anthropic API for analysis. Photos are not stored by us after processing.

How We Use Your Information

• To display and sync your collection across devices (if signed in)
• To process AI-powered booking scans and ship photo identification
• To manage your Full Sail subscription
• To show community leaderboards (display name and collection count only)
• To serve relevant advertisements to free users

Advertising

Free users of Dockside see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and other data to show you relevant ads. On iOS, we request your permission before enabling personalized advertising via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can opt out at any time in your device Settings under Privacy → Tracking.

Full Sail subscribers do not see ads.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication and cloud sync. Privacy policy
• Google AdMob — Advertising for free users. May collect device identifiers and usage data for ad targeting. Privacy policy
• RevenueCat — Subscription management. Privacy policy
• Anthropic — AI vision for scan features. Images are processed per Anthropic's usage policy. Privacy policy

Data Storage and Security

Your collection is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. If you choose to sign in, your data is synced to Firebase Firestore, which is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. To request deletion, use the account deletion option in the app settings or contact us at the email below. Local data can be removed by deleting the app.

Children's Privacy

Dockside is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
